BCM gives update on latest Covid-19 stats

The Buffalo City Metro says East London remains the epicentre of the pandemic within the Metro where 71 people have died.

The death toll for the entire Metro is 160.

Active cases as at 19 July:

East London: 2 293

Mdantsane: 991 (32 deaths)

King Williams Town/Bhisho: 878 (56 deaths)

There are currently 13 quarantine sites that are actively admitting cases.

The Municipality says the turnaround time for post-mortems to confirm Covid-19 is now 72-hours depending on laboratory tests.
