Police in Gqeberha, formerly Port Elizabeth, are searching for four suspects who allegedly robbed a couple at their home in Theescombe on Saturday evening.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that guests left their house in Upper Seaview Road at around 11 pm when they were confronted by four unknown men in the kitchen.
She says the suspects, who were armed with a firearm, a screwdriver and a crowbar, demanded cash and the keys to the safe.
Naidu says the 61-year old man’s hands and feet were tied, while his wife’s hands were tied with her apron and her feet bound with cell phone cords.
The suspects took a 9mm pistol from the safe and fled with cash, and various items including wedding bands, watches and diamond earrings.
The estimated value is R145 000.
The victims were not injured.
