Eastern Cape Police are searching for four suspects who robbed a couple at their farmhouse in the Hankey district of the province.
SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, says the men who were all armed and wearing balaclavas broke the glass of a sliding door before storming into the house near the R331, at about 18h45 on Thursday.
Sergeant Nkohli says the victims, aged 56 and 60, were held at gunpoint before being tied up with electric cables.
He says the suspects then opened a safe and stole a firearm and ammunition.
Sergeant Nkohli says they also made off with jewellery, two flat-screen TV’s, a laptop and liquor.
He says about an hour after the attackers fled, the victims managed to free themselves and activate the alarm – they were not injured during the incident.
A case of house robbery is being investigated and anyone with information that could led to the arrest of the suspects is urged to contact their nearest police station.
