A couple, arrested for dealing with illicit drugs worth more than R250 000, is expected to appear before the Cradock Magistrate Court on Monday.
The 35-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were travelling on the R61 on Sunday night when their vehicle was pulled over by police following a tip-off.
Warrant Officer, Majola Nkohli, says police patrolling the R61 route received notification of a flagged vehicle going towards the Cradock direction which was pulled off the road minutes later.
He says while searching the vehicle, police found more than a thousand mandrax tablets and 450 grams of tik stashed inside a school bag.
The couple was arrested and an application for the vehicle to be forfeited to the state is expected to follow.
