Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for the armed gang responsible for a house robbery at a farmhouse in Kirkwood on Monday night.
Uitenhage police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, says a couple was returning to their farmhouse in the Tregaeron area of Kirkwood when the incident happened at around 7.40 pm.
He says the couple was attacked by a group of at least five men who were all armed and wearing balaclavas.
The couple was beaten and forced into the house at gunpoint where they were tied up with cables and binding wire.
Sergeant Nkohli says the robbers fled the scene with two firearms, four cell phones and cash.
The victims, who were fortunate to only sustain minor injuries during the ordeal, were able to free themselves a short while later and alert their staff who assisted in contacting the police.
A case of house robbery is being investigated and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Kirkwood police or their nearest police station.
