Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of robbery after a couple was attacked in their home in Seaview on Thursday night.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 52-year-old man and his 45-year-old wife were sleeping with the sliding door open when three men wearing balaclavas entered their home and overpowered them.
The intruders were armed with screwdrivers and an axe.
Janse van Rensburg says the man was stabbed several times and the robbers fled with two cellphones.
