Police in Gqeberha have confiscated counterfeit cell phone goods in Walmer and Central worth an estimated value of over R3 million.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says Border Policing members attached to the Port of Ngqura received information about the goods located at a house in Walmer as well as at a shop in Govan Mbeki Avenue, at 9 am on Monday.
She says search warrants were simultaneously executed at both locations, and the fake well-known brands including those which were already on display for sale at the store were confiscated.
Naidu says 5 403 cell phone covers, 1 981 phone chargers, 1 414 batteries, 914 cell phone glass covers, 539 boxes of travel adaptors and an undisclosed amount of money was confiscated.
She says a case of the contravention of the Counterfeit Goods Act is under investigation.
