Uitenhage ward councillors will be convening a public service announcement meeting on Thursday in the wake of the recent upsurge in gun violence and gun-related killings in the area.
This follows growing concern among councillors as well as residents in the Rosedale, Thomas Gamble, and Mountain View areas.
In the latest incident at lunchtime on Monday, a 21-year-old man was fatally wounded and another shot in the upper leg on the corners of Acacia Road and Kingfisher Drive in Rosedale.
Ward 49 councillor, Franay Van de Linde, says addressing the scourge of gun violence will be high on the agenda at Thursday's meeting which takes place at 3 pm at a local church at number 192 Tinktinkie Avenue.
She says drug dealing appears to be instrumental in events leading up to some of the killings.
Van de Linde says they will further engage in ways in which leaders can join hands in combating this evil.
She says people are scared to come out and when they call meetings, only a few people come.
Van de Linde has further called on community members to be accountable for making a change in Rosedale and surrounding areas.
