Cosatu in the Eastern Cape holds its provincial congress this week

Trade union federation Cosatu in the Eastern Cape will be holding its provincial congress later this week where a new executive will be elected.
Among the keynote speakers lined up are Cosatu's deputy secretary general, Solly Mapaila, First deputy president Tyotyo James and ANC provincial chairperson, Phumulo Masualle.
Cosatu provincial secretary, Mandla Rayi, says on national issues they will be examining the state of the ANC-led alliance, the global economic crisis and other domestic issues.
He says there will also be a keen focus on the Eastern Cape.
"We will be looking at the province with regards to the same categories in terms of the state of the alliances of the ANC in the province, the state of the South African Communist Party and the state of Cosatu as well as the socio economic issues, the crisis in education, the crisis in the health department, the state of service delivery in the province and problems in local government with political infighting and so forth" Rayi said.
