Cosas says the ongoing protest and strike that has crippled the Eastern Cape town has nothing to do with education.
Residents, under the banner of the Sterkspruit Civic Association, are demanding to have their own municipality, saying they no longer want to be part of the Senqu Municipality which incorporates Lady Grey.
Cosas provincial secretary Mfundiso Oliphant says while residents have a right to protest, violating the constitutional right of learners to education by not allowing them to go to school is absurd.
