Two Port Elizabeth police officers were slightly injured when they were attacked by alcohol-fueled residents of Kuyga at Greenbushes in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Warrant Officer Labans says police had gone to forcibly close the Generators Tavern because it was trading past the designated closing time of 2am.
Labans says two police officer were injured in the fracas that followed.
A Guardmed ambulance which had been summoned to the scene also came under attack and several of its windows were smashed.
Labans said two suspects had been arrested and were being held at the Kabega Park police station.
They'll appear in court early this week on charges of assault and malicious damage to property.
