The United Democratic Movement has announced a political deal with members of the Congress of the People who support Mbhazima Shilowa.
UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa, said on Monday that 800 delegates from Cope branches in eight provinces who were not part of the recent Cope congress of Mosiuoa Lekota, will support the UDM in the upcoming election.
He said the process of integration and preparing an effective election machinery across the country is currently underway with joint meetings at provincial levels, while a national structure to oversee this process has been put in place.
Shilowa will support the process but will not be part of the merger because of a court interdict against him that remains unresolved.
Holomisa has meanwhile called on all Cope members to rally behind the UDM in the May elections.
