Bail of R5000 has been granted to Iain McLaggan of Port Elizabeth, who is appealing his conviction on a charge of rape, and eight year jail sentence.
McLaggan was earlier found guilty of raping a British teenager at Shamwari in in 2010.
His bail was withdrawn when he was convicted in August, and he was sentenced last month, after which the appeal process commenced.
Legal Aid spokesperson Dave McGlew says the five-thousand rands' bail is the same which applied before the conviction.
McLaggan is well-known in the music fraternity in Port Elizabeth.
