The controversial 699-rand-per-month car scheme has been placed on the Port Elizabeth High Court roll for Tuesday morning.
A group of hundreds of consumers -- represented by Port Elizabeth lawyer Duncan Heuer -- is to ask the court to declare contracts between the banks and car buyers null and void.
He told Algoa FM News a short while ago that he and the respondents met in judges chambers on Monday.
"We have been in judges chambers Monday afternoon and the various respondents, the banks, Absa, Nedbank and Standard Bank. The banks have now opposed it and filed their opposing papers. The Judge has given us directions to file further papers in heads of arguments and accordingly the matter will be postponed until the 7th of August" he said.
Heuer says affected consumers can SMS their details to 4 33 66.
The SMS must start with PCF Attorneys, no spaces, and include the consumer's name and e-mail address.
"The whole reason for the data base is to keep people updated, This is by no means a line that you have to register in order to be part of this case. The Judge will order if we are successful on directions on how people will either opt in or out" he added.
