The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's efforts of creating jobs and alleviating poverty has been given a boost.
Deputy Director-General of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Tozi Faba has revealed that his department will increase the number of people working within Nelson Mandela Bay's Community Works Programme from the current 1200 to 2400 people.
The programme was introduced in Nelson Mandela Bay in September last year, and was designed to create employment safety nets to locally unemployed individuals to work for a specific number of days.
The programme also focuses on skills development and enterprise development through the establishment of cooperatives.
