Police in Gqeberha have opened up a murder docket following the discovery of a burnt body in Old Uitenhage Road near the salt pans.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says community members were walking in the area when they made the grim discovery at about 10 am on Friday.
She says the body they discovered was completely burnt out and it is impossible to say if it was a man or a woman.
Colonel Naidu says they do, however, suspect that the victim is a young person, possibly in their late teens or early twenties.
The case is being investigated by Algoa Park Saps.
