Its been a chilly morning across the Eastern Cape with the weather office saying Port Elizabeth had experience its coldest morning since 2008.
Weather office spokesperson, Garth Sampson, says the mercury dipped to a frosty 1.9 degrees Celsius as a result of cloudless conditions and maximum outgoing radiation.
He says in 2008 the mercury dropped to 0.7 degrees Celsius in Nelson Mandela Bay.
But, despite this record, other parts of the province were significantly colder.
Jamestown and Barkley East were a mind-numbing minus 10, while Elliot, Aliwal North, Cradock and Graaff-Reinet experienced sub-zero temperatures of between minus 3.7 to minus eight degrees.
Snow was also reported on the peaks of mountains in eight areas across the province.

Snow was spotted high up on the Cockscomb mountain this morning.
Over the weekend snow was reported in the following areas:
