South Africa needs to have an economic Codesa to find ways of boosting the economy to create jobs.
That's the word from world renowned scenario strategist, Dr Clem Sunter.
Speaking at the inaugural Coega Business Forum lecture in Nelson Mandela Bay Wednesday night, Sunter said while the Convention for a Democratic South Africa had ushered in an era of political freedom, there was no real focus on the country's economy.
He said the time had come for an economic Codesa that would lead to the transformation of the economy and ultimately lead to job creation.
Sunter also called for a so-called Agridesa, to deal with South Africa's unresolved land issues.
"We have been saying for said for some time that we should have an Agridesa so that you get the major players the large farmers, the emerging farmers the government and the land man together to negotiate a reasonable blueprint on land ownership transformation, because that was never done in Zimbabwe and the pressure just build up. We do need to release that pressure by coming up with a sensible blueprint" Sunter said.
