Police in Duncan Village in East London have embarked on the first phase of a clean-up operation at Ebenezer Majombisi High School.
This follows the rape and robbery of a 13-year-old school girl on the school grounds earlier this month.
No arrests have yet been made.
Police spokesperson, captain Stephen Marais, says the joint operation was was conducted by the school and parolees from the department of correctional services.
Marais says crime has become a major problem in the area.
"In the school premises itself we have had many complaints of theft of cell phones and all kind of criminal activities taking place in the bushes, We have cleaned it up before, but now it will have to be maintained on a regular basis" he said.
