Classes have resumed at Walter Sisulu University after an agreement between labour and management was officially signed on Monday afternoon.
WSU spokesperson Angela Church says the annual salary increase for this year will be an across-the-board increase on basic salary of 5 percent.
The increase will be backdated to January 1st 2013, and paid with the salary run of September 2013, together with back pay.
She adds that the parties commit to the implementation of a revised academic calendar.
Church says that as means of paying employees for the additional working hours that will be worked as a consequence of the revised university calendar, the university will pay employees the equivalent of an August 2013 salary run with less normal deductions for September.
