The civil aviation authority has despatched an investigator to probe Tuesday's plane crash on a farm on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth.
A 57 year old Cape Town man died when his Beechcraft went down on a farm in the Greenbushes area Tuesday afternoon.
Police warrant officer Alwin Labans says the pilot took off from the Port Elizabeth airport at around 14.15.
He says the pilot started to experience difficulties about 15 minutes into the flight and disappeared from the radar.
Labans says at 14.31 police received reports about a plane in trouble over the Greensbushes area and a few minutes later the crash was reported to police.
The name of the pilot has not yet been released.
