A 57-year-old Cape Town man has died in an aircraft accident in Port Elizabeth.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Alwin Labans, says the pilot took off from the city's airport in a Beechcraft at around 2.15pm Tuesday afternoon.
He says the pilot started to experience difficulties about 15 minutes into the flight and disappeared from the radar.
Labans says at 14.31 police received reports about a plane in trouble over the Greensbushes area on the city's outskirts and a few minutes later the crash was reported to police.
The name of the pilot has not yet been released.
The Civil Aviation Authority will be investigating the accident.
