Port Elizabeth police say millions of rands in cigarettes are stolen every week in hijackings and robberies of tobacco company trucks around the Metro.
Police spokesperson, Captain Johan Rheeder, says they're receiving two to three incidents a week.
The latest hijacking took place in Algoa Park on Monday when three men, one armed with a gun, hijacked a tobacco company truck.
Rheeder says the driver was not armed and no shots were fired.
He says losses are running into millions of rands.
