Eastern Cape transport authorities reported the tragic deaths of six people in a single-vehicle accident near Ngcobo on Christmas Day.
Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said a Ford Ranger double-cab with nine occupants overturned on the R-61 near the town and in the direction of Mthatha.
The accident occurred at around 11 am.
He said five people died on the scene, while the sixth victim died on arrival at the All Saints Hospital in Ngcobo.
Binqose said the deceased were four males, two adults, two boys, and two adult females.
Three three people, including the driver, were injured.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Ngcobo police.
