Chippa boss Siviwe Mpengesi fires 'Chilli Boys' coach Teboho Moloi

PORT ELIZABETH, March 3 (ANA) – Just hours after Eric Tinkler stepped down as SuperSport United's mentor comes the news that another PSL club, Chippa United, has fired their coach Teboho Moloi on Saturday.

In a statement released on Saturday, 'Chippa' Mpengesi said that the PE-based club has parted ways with Moloi.

In what proved to be Moloi's last game in charge, Chippa slumped to their sixth Premiership defeat, going down 2-0 to Cape Town City on Friday night at Athlone.

Moloi took over the reigns in September 2017, and had an impressive run that saw the team climbing to second position on the Absa Premiership table at one stage.

As the season wound on, the Chilli Boys managed only one win in nine league games, slipping out of the top 8.

“We have parted ways with Mr Moloi, and our parting was amicable,” said Mpengesi.

“We thank the coach for his contribution to the Club, he brought in fresh blood from our development.

“He is passionate about his work and showed me a lot of positive things that I did not see from other coaches.

“He remains a friend of the club and a coach with a bright future.”

“It is unfortunate that results were not forthcoming. Football is a business nowadays, and a decision had to be made,” said Mpengesi.
