Two Chinese nationals have been sentenced to an effective three years imprisonment each in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court.
Thirty year old Huang Zhanyang and 51-year old Pow Kekun pleaded guilty earlier this month to charges involving one of the biggest perlemoen busts in the country.
In August the men were arrested for being in possession of abalone valued at R5.25 million on a farm near Grassridge in Motherwell.

In handing down sentence on Monday, Magistrate Tobie Gerber said that both accused were fully aware that they were entering South Africa, getting involved in illegal activities.
On count one, the conducting of an unlawful fish processing establishment both the accused were sentenced to 30 months imprisonment.
On count two, the unlawful possession of abalone, they were sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
On count three, on entering and remaining in the country, they were both sentenced to 3 months imprisonment.
On counts four and five, the unlawful use of a falsified permit to remain in South Africa, both accused were sentenced to 6 months imprisonment.
Count two and three are to run concurrently.
The case against a third accused, 28-year old Brett Kilian, was previously separated and postponed until the 2nd of March as he intends pleading not guilty.
