Kirkwood police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an eight-year-old child was knocked down and killed by a vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, says the driver of the Quantum mini-bus was transporting children from the Correctional Centre in Kirkwood to school, when the accident happened.
He says the accident happened shortly after seven on Wednesday morning.
Nkohli says it is not known if the vehicle is privately owned or if it belongs to the Department of Correctional Services.
He says a statement has been taken from the 42-year-old driver.
Nkohli says the police docket will be forwarded to the Provincial Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision.
