Paramedics from ER 24 were dispatched to a scene on Tuesday morning where police found a 3-year-old child, abandoned in a vehicle on a dirt road in Grasmere.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring says according to the child's father they were hijacked earlier in the Randfontein area.
He says the toddler was assessed by paramedics who at the time was in the custody of police officials.
Meiring says besides for being visibly shaken he had no injuries.
