Police in the Uitenhage Cluster have opened up an inquest docket following the death of a 10-year-old boy.
Police Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says it is alleged that Amahle Majika was going for a swim in a canal in Addo on Monday and was not seen or heard from again.
Community members started searching for Amahle and found his school clothes and bag next to the canal on Tuesday.
The matter was reported to police who launched a search party.
Swart says his body was found in the canal about 2 km from where his school uniform was found.
