The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has conveyed its condolences to the family of an 11-year-old boy who drowned at the Great Brak River Mouth.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says the child was swimming with his friend at Suider Kruis on Wednesday when he disappeared under the water.
He says it is believed that other children located and recovered his body from the water.
Lambinon says on arrival their crew initiated CPR efforts but he was declared deceased.
The name of the victim has not been released.
An inquest docket has been opened by police.
