Child critical after being hit by stray bullet during Uitenhage protest

The Eastern Cape Health Department says an 11-year old girl is in a critical condition after being hit by a stray bullet during the Uitenhage protests.
Department Spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo says the girl was admitted to Uitenhage provisional hospital on Thursday night.
"Last night an 11 year old girl was admitted to Uitenhage Provincial after being shot. She was later transferred to Livingstone Hospital for further treatment. It is believed that she was hit by a stray bullet during the protest"
Police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci says police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
Soci says the girl was found with head injuries in Blikkiesdorp on Thursday.
She says the South African Police Service have referred the matter to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate
