A 30-year old Port Elizabeth man is expected to appear in court on Monday for shooting and killing a 3-year old boy and a dog.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Johan Rheeder says the suspect alleges that while he was walking down a street in Gelvendale on Saturday, he was confronted by 6 men, armed with knives, who wanted to rob him.
He says the man pulled out a stolen and unlicensed firearm, and shot several shots.
Rheeder says the bullets hit the dog and the nearby boy in the back. He died at the scene.
The suspect was arrested, and faces charges of murder, malicious damage to property and the unlawful possesion of a firearm and ammunition.
