Police in Knysna recovered stolen cell phone signal tower batteries worth an estimated R150 000.
A spokesperson for police Sergeant Chris Spies says this was a breakthrough for police following an integrated, intelligent-driven operation in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday.
He says police searched a house in Hornlee and upon searching the premises they found two batteries hidden in a room. Further investigation resulted in the additional discovery of empty gas cylinders as well as a range of power tools and electrical equipment.
Police then raided a house in Concordia and one in Kwanokuthula where three more batteries were discovered.
Two suspects were arrested for the possession of suspected stolen items.
They will appear in the Knysna Magistrates Court soon.
