Southern Cape police arrested three suspects shortly after a cash in transit robbery in Oudtshoorn on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says a Fidelity Cash Solutions vehicle was ambushed at the Atlantic Oil filling station opposite the Bridgton Police station and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.
He says the suspects were driving a Toyota Conquest and overpowered the guards as they were unloading money at the filling station's ATM.
Pojie says eyewitnesses told police they saw three suspects wearing balaclavas.
Police reacted swiftly and arrested the men at the Blanco turn-off to George.
The suspects are currently being detained until their court appearance later this week.
Pojie says the case docket has been handed over to the Hawks.
