Julius Verhoog (68)

The vehicle of a missing man from Mossel Bay has been found.

The 68-year-old Julius Verhoog was last seen on the 28th of February when he left his home in Island view.

In March, Verhoog's wife told the Mossel Bay Advertiser that her husband had left her two letters, his phone and wallet before disappearing.

Police spokesperson, Captain Wollie Fourie says employees of Cape Nature were doing patrols on the Robinson Pass between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn on Monday when they came across the wreckage of his vehicle, a grey Citroen.

He says the car was found at the bottom of the pass in a deserted area.

A body in an advanced stage of decomposition was found inside the car and DNA tests and a post mortem will now be conducted to confirm the identity of the deceased.

Police have opened an inquest docket.
