It was quiet in Sterkspruit on Saturday morning, after Eastern Cape police arrested 50 people following a service delivery protest on Friday.
Police spokesperson, captain Ursula Roelofse, says the main road through the town was closed when protestors placed stones and burning barricades in the street.
She says three offices at a satellite office of the Senqu Municipality were also destroyed in a fire allegedly started by the protestors.
Roelofse says protesters returned to their homes at around 7 o'clock on Friday evening.
Those arrested face charges of public violence and arson.
