Independent candidate Francois Geldenhuys and the DA's Wayne Craig are contesting the Bitou Ward 2 by-election in Plettenberg Bay.
IEC Provincial electoral officer Courtney Sampson says those needing to cast special votes did so on Tuesday.
Polling booths opened at seven o'clock this morning at the Plettenberg Bay Community Hall and the Plettenberg Bay Primary School and close at 9 o'clock on Wednesday evening.
Sampson says no incidents have been reported so far from the voting process.
He says the IEC is aware of a complaint laid by Geldenhuys against the DA for allegedly referring to him as the proxy of the ANC.
