By-election in Knysna to replace murdered ANC councillor

A municipal by-election will take place in Knysna on Wednesday to find a successor for murdered ANC councillor, Victor Molosi.

Ward 8 in the municipality will be hotly contested between the ANC’s Thando Matika, Sharon Hartnick of the DA and the EFF’s Aphumle Kolanisi.

Voting will take place at the Masifunde Library and the Concordia High School where 50-year-old Molosi was a member of the school governing body.

He was shot dead in front of his home in Concordia in July after attending an SGB meeting.

Ironically the bail application of three of the four suspects arrested in connection with his murder will take place in the Knysna Magistrates court also on Wednesday.

Independent ward councillor, Velile Waxa, as well as Wanda Makala and Vena Dumisa, were charged with his murder and remain in custody.

The fourth suspect, Knysna Taxi Forum secretary, Mandla Tyololo, faces a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

His bail application will take place in the same court on Friday.
