A 39-year-old Butterworth mother is expected to appear in court on Tuesday after allegedly killing her two-week-old baby.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says it is alleged that the mother, on Sunday, noticed that her baby was not breathing.
He says it is believed that she then wrapped the infant in a towel and small blanket and waited until morning to dump the body in the nearby bushes in Zitulele Township.
Manatha says the mother was arrested at the scene where she was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
