Butterworth man shoots two men dead and wounds a third

A 40 year old man handed himself to Butterworth police station after he shot two men aged 24 and 29 to death.

A third man who was also shot by the suspect was rushed to an East London hospital in "a very serious condition."

"The allegation is that the suspect and the deceased were enjoying themselves in a tavern at Zitulele Township, Butterworth.  It is alleged that the deceased had parked their car in the middle of the road. The suspect wanted the deceased to move their car," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"It is not clear at this point in time what transpired as the suspect drew his fire arm and shot the   deceased.  The two deceased men died on the spot on Sunday 28 August 2016 at about 03:30," he said.

"The suspect has been charged with two murders and attempted murder. He will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate Court soon. The fire arm of the suspect was licensed. The identities of both deceased are still being withheld pending notification of their next of kin," he added.
