Eastern Cape police have opened an inquest docket, after a 49 year old man burnt beyond recognition in an informal settlement near Butterworth over the weekend.
Capt Jackson Manatha says police suspect that a flame stove started the fire.
He says the name of the deceased will be released as soon as his next-of-kin have been informed

A 66 year old man was hit by a motor vehicle while he was crossing the N2 road near Ndabakazi Village just outside the town.
Capt Manatha says the man died at the scene, and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
