Business as usual at Radisson Blu in Port Elizabeth

The management of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Port Elizabeth has once again given the assurance that its business as usual.

This follows the liquidation application brought against Auspex Hotels and Leisure by Absa which also requested a deviation from rule six as it relates to liquidation proceedings, to allow the operation to continue without interruption.

Clive van Oudtshoorn, general manager operations, says the sectional title hotels ownership currently rests with Absa, the Industrial Development Corporation and a number of sectional title private investors.

Addressing a media briefing on Monday morning, Van Oudtshoorn said the parties have passed a vote of confidence in the existing management and hotel operations to continue as usual while the matter is being resolved.

"The message from us is that we are certainly here in PE to add value not only to the stakeholders to our clients and we are committed to the city, we are committed to making a huge difference in here and certainly from us it's business as usual and we are here to stay and are committed in staying" Van Oudtshoorn said.

Meanwhile, Port Elizabeth businessman, Phil Gutsche, says while the private investors are concerned about the situation, they have great confidence in the continued management of the hotel.

"We need to from a Port Elizabeth perspective ensure the continued success of this hotel and as I understand it the liquidators and the main creditor being ABSA wish to achieve just that and we are supportive of that principle so none of us will act irresponsibly" Gutsche said.
