Some residents of Kwadwesi in Nelson Mandela Bay have torched a bus and truck as a housing protest continued on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, said that community members from Westville in Kwadesi took to the streets late on Tuesday night, setting a bus alight.
He said on Wednesday morning protesting residents also blocked New Mission Road at the intersection with Mkwenke Street, with rubble, concrete pipe and burning tyres.
Beetge said a five ton truck was also set alight.
"Sporadic stone throwing also occured. SAPS Public Order Police responded to the scene and the community moved away from the barricades," Beetge said.
He said the situation remained tense but under control by lunchtime Wednesday.
