Buffalo City Municipality says it will be trucking in water to hospitals and old age homes as the city's water woes continue.
It's estimated that it will take up six days to get the Metro's water system fully functional again.
Several parts of the Metro have been without water since Monday
Municipality spokesperson Thandy Matebese.
"We have arranged for water to be carted to several institutions like old age homes, prisons and hospitals. After that it will be moved to communities. We are expecting the system to recover in 3-6 days". he said
Matebese added that reservoir levels are critically low throughout East London and asked residents to continue using water sparingly.
