Buffalo City Municipality says it will establish a joint operations centre to coordinate its summer safety programme.
Buffalo City executive mayor, Zukiswa Ncitha unveiled details of the plan to the media on Wednesday.
She says more than 120 personnel will be working around the clock to ensure the safety of visitors and locals during the festive season, which kicks off on Saturday.
Buffalo City spokesperson, Keith Ngesi, says their entire programme centres around the theme "2013 Awaits You, Be Responsible".
"Everything that our law enforcement agencies will be focusing on will be the safety of the people and this include the non-tolerance of reckless driving on our roads, road rage, drunken driving and all other negligent activities like loitering, drinking and making illegal fires on beaches" Ngesi said.
