Buffalo City Metro has established a Youth Council aimed at enhancing youth participation in economic development for job creation.
BCM special programmes manager, Shaun Petzer, says the establishment of the 10 member council followed approval by the Council, based on guidelines of the National Youth Development Agency.
He says youth from various organizations and structures including but not limited to youth in business, political organisations, student as well as youth development organisations among others.
"Their mandate really is to look at those outcomes of the June 2013 Youth Summit where we looked at key areas of youth and economic development, youth in democracy, youth in HIV, youth in crime all those activities. They will be required to submit reports, their first duty is to look at an action plan, targets and indicators and outcomes then measure to see if they've actually achieved those." says Petzer
