Buffalo City Mayor, Zukiswa Ncitha, has listed improved budget spend as one of the successes of the Metropolitan Municipality.
She was delivering the State of the Metro address in King Williams Town on Tuesday.
Ncitha says for the Financial Year ended 30 June 2013, the Metro surpassed its previous expenditure records and attained a 70% capital spend.
She said this was a sign that their political will and oversight was beginning to turn a positive corner.
Mayor Ncitha said in the current financial year, capital expenditure will grow even more.
"We are close to spend about 90% of our capital budget, delivering basic infrastructure services to our people. Our public spending on water and sanitation has been consistently high with a combined allocation of R243 million of the financial year and R315 million in the coming financial year" she said.
