Police have finally released the identity of the young woman who was found brutally murdered at Brighton Beach in Gqeberha in February.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said she was 25-year-old Nomzamo Blom.
She said the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Gavin Scheepers, traced her family to Peddie who made the formal identification on Monday.
Naidu said an extensive search by SAPS Mount Road Detectives was conducted to trace Blom's family after her battered body was found at Brighton Beach by a security vehicle on the morning of 10 February.
"Blom sustained severe injuries to her head and stomach. She was naked," Naidu said.
She said police suspected "that she could have been run over several times by a vehicle."
Naidu said investigators determined that Blom, who lived at a block of flats in Sidwell known as the "brown's flats", had left with a friend with two men in a Toyota Quantum mini-bus.
She said the friend later left Blom with the men and returned home and that was the last time that anyone had seen her.
Naidu said police believe that the mini-bus driver and the passenger may be able to assist them in their investigation and are now appealing to taxi owners or anyone to assist in tracing the duo.
She said the public can contact D/Sgt Gavin Scheepers on 073 930 9272 or SAPS Mount Road on 041 394 6316 or Crime Stop 0n 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
