Twenty-three year old Brent Cunningham has abandoned his bid for bail in the Port Elizabeth magistrates court.
Cunningham appeared in court on Friday where the matter was postponed until the 30th of January.
Charges relate to an alleged assault on his father earlier this month.
Cunningham has a previous conviction of assault with the intent to do grevious bodily harm, and one pending case for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
Defence Lawyer Danie Gouws says the case was postponed for a plea and sentencing agreement.
