Police have arrested seven suspects on the R-72 road between East London and Port Alfred.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel, Mtati Tana, said the arrests came after a police patrol spotted an open truck on the road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
He says the truck had been robbed of its goods.
Tana says police followed up on information and arrested the suspects, aged between 18 and 29, while goods worth around R100 000 were recovered.
He says they will appear in court on Friday.
"This is a very big breakthrough for the police. People have been complaining about these robberies for quite some time now. Some goods recovered could also solve other robberies" he said.
Police have intensified their patrol in the area.
